College Steps 101

College Steps 101 provides support and services to help high school students transiting into college and their careers. Many students and parents need help with navigating the college application process, college preparation, test preparation, financial aid application assistance, and overall support with the transition into college.
College Steps 101 is a 10-month program for college-bound high school students that begins in the Fall and guides the students along their college preparation and admittance journey. The program walks students along the path of choosing colleges, the admission process, essay writing, FAFSA application, and scholarship research. Also, considering that some students are first-time college students or parents are unfamiliar with the current college admissions process, College Steps 101 also offers parent workshops for financial aid assistance and pre-college counseling. This provides an all-encompassing program that guides both the student and their parents along their college journey. Finally, once a student commits to their university of choice, they are rewarded with a need-based scholarship to help with their specific needs for a smooth transition.

101 Enterprises Foundation selects students throughout LA County and has developed partnerships with schools within the Inglewood and Los Angeles USDs. College Steps 101 works with between 5-10 students to provide an individual experience that starts in the Fall and continues until June, when the school year ends. Any interested students and parents, please send us an email to enroll.

As a first time generation I had no path to follow, completely lost when it came to navigating FASFA and the college application process. I knew I wanted to because an LVN nurse. Helping people and making them feel better was in my specialty. Jenise showed me, helped and wanted me to succeed in life. Guiding me every step of the way. She changed my life and not only did she help me get into my dream school ACC but she was also my support system when school was challenging. Lifting me up and showing me what I was really capable of achieving. I wanted to break the system, the cycle of living pay check by paycheck breaking my back to make ends meet. From filling out the FAFSA to writing my college essays and getting accepted to so many opportunities where I thought I was once limited to. Every time I would reach out to help with the process she didn’t waste anytime nor hesitate on it. Thanks to her help, I not only secured the financial aid I needed but also ended up with a degree behind my name . I’m officially an LVN 2024, a 13 month process. I couldn’t have done it without her.

I’m incredibly grateful for the support I received with my college acceptance and financial aid process. Jenise went above and beyond—helping me research schools, meet deadlines, and understand financial aid forms that felt overwhelming at first. Her guidance gave me the confidence to apply to colleges I never thought I could afford. Thanks to her, I’m now a CSULB Alumni and I truly couldn’t have done it without her help.
